She was wearing a spaghetti inside her blue-white striped top. It was not merely for fashion rather it was to cover the linings of her seam bra. It was not merely her choice but her scared mother asked her to wear that. Figuring out that why I termed her as scared? Then it is just because of the society.
S.O.C.I.E.T.Y? Wonderstrucked huh? Well not only in India but also in some fragmented parts of the world like if I name a few UAE, Asian countries and in some undiscovered parts of the world , women’s clothing has always been something to debate about.

  1. Great post ! I am a girl .. And I am pretty sure I am not that confident in whatever I wear! Taking suggestions from friends about how the dress looks ? .. Asking them is this dress too weird ? Is anything out hanging ? Everything is fine right ? All these sort of bull shit .. A girl should think about her dress hundred times before even wearing it ! Such an ironic thing to stateπŸ™ ! I am an Indian girl.. I guess u mentioned in ur post abt Indian stereotypes . But I think India is a mixed society . There are all possible kinds of religions existing in our country! Take Muslims for example ( not intending to point out anything .. Just an example). They wear hijab! Why? It is their custom . And even in their own religion there are people against that very custom. And it applies to all the people in all the countries what ever the religion maybe . Some of us like to wear jeans and some of us restricts ourselves to sari . It is none of others business to bother about what we wear and what we like. My parents wants me to wear chudidhars mostly. But I despise that , I love to wear jeans and tank tops! πŸ˜‰ What does it mean ? They are literally forcing me to wear what they want . They tell me , you are a girl and u better dress like one ! And what was I doing ? Exact same thing ! I am not trying to wear boxer briefs n go party with frnds! .. And I certainly would not like one to wear in the future too 😁.

    1. Yes, I think she made some good points. You should check out her blog, she has many good posts like this.
I understand religious and cultural dress but I believe in the freedom to be yourself. It burns me up that men have little to no restrictions on what they wear and it’s because they dictate these rules of attire. I’m so tired of the mentality that women are somehow less than men and should be controlled.
